What is NHS?
The National Honor Society is sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Its purpose is to recognize and encourage academic achievement while developing other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy.

Membership in the National Honor Society is based upon excellence in four areas:

  • Scholarship
  • Leadership
  • Character
  • Service

The National Council of the National Honor Society establishes the procedure by which the Faculty Selection Committee chooses the candidates for induction.

Goals
To create an enthusiasm for scholarship
To stimulate a desire to render service
To promote leadership in our community
To develop character in our schools

Eligibility
Students who have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.4 or higher at the end of their first semester as a junior are eligible for selection with a May induction.
Seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher as a first-semester senior are eligible for selection with a January induction.
After receiving notification that they are eligible, students are advised to follow directions carefully given for NHS application.
